Fire Resistance for Leotheras the Blind

Fire Resistance for Leotheras the Blind

The third boss in SSC, Leotheras the Blind, requires a high fire resistance tank when he’s in his demon form. This can be done with a regular tank but is frequently done using a warlock as they achieve high fire resistance easier with a talent change.

This guide will help your selected warlock and/or tank to reach their resistance goals in the easiest and cheapest manner possible.

How Much Fire Resistance Is Needed for Leotheras the Blind?

Leotheras the Blind

Leotheras the Blind

Both warlocks and plate-wearing tanks will want to be at or near the fire resistance cap for Leotheras the Blind. Resistance cap in TBC Classic 365. Anything over that is wasted. The initial attacks are low damage, but as debuffs from Chaos Blast build up the damage ramps up. Being at fire resistance cap you should be able to handle 12-14 stacks.

Badge of Justice vs Crafted Sets

Both warlocks and plate-wearing tanks have two paths for meeting the fire resistance needs of Leotheras the Blind. One is based on buying epic fire resistance gear from the Badge of Justice vendor. The other is collecting materials to craft blue fire resistance gear.

If looking at the two set options from a min/max perspective then the BoJ set wins across the board. It requires fewer item slots and enchants to reach the fire resistance cap while offering more health. For cloth and plate-wearers the BoJ sets require 100 Badge of Justice. That’s an average of 20-25 heroic dungeon runs, a bit less if you consistently do the heroic dungeon daily. If you already have your other BoJ gear and don’t have a need for more BoJ in Phase 2 then this option is even more practical.

Meanwhile, the crafted set gets you to the fire resistance cap, though by using more items and enchants. But unlike farming BoJ, you can solo these sets. Most of the materials are farmable by level 70, given enough time. The rest can be bought at the auction house.

My suggestion is to do the path you enjoy more. If you prefer dungeons and group content then by all means farm up the 100 BoJ and buy your set. If instead, you like to solo grind then check the material lists for the crafted sets and see if that’s of interest to you. All of the materials are tradable, so if you would rather earn gold another way and then buy what you need that’s also viable.

You should also feel free to mix and match your set if you prefer. Buy a few BoJ pieces, craft a few others. Warlocks want to hit 225 fire resistance with just their gear. Warriors and paladins need to hit 295 fire resistance with their gear. Whatever method gets you those numbers and keeps you from dreading the game is the best.
